American Culture vs The Culture of Mexico
Have you ever wondered what the cultures are in America and Mexico? There are comparisons between Cultures in America and in Mexico. There are many, wonderful cultures in Mexico and America. Camille Paglia once said “All objects, all phases of culture are alive. They have voices. They speak of their history and interrelatedness. And they are all talking at once!”. Some cultures in America and Mexico are different, but we also share cultural similarities. In America, they celebrate the 4th of July to remember their independence from Britain. Some people make festivals in their hometowns to remember that incredible day, that day when they were free from Britain. On Memorial Day, America honors all those people who have died in the military serves. It is celebrated on the last Monday of May. Labor Day celebrates the achievements of those many people that work night and day. It is celebrated on the first Monday of September. America also contributes the veterans by celebrating Veteran’s Day on November 11th (livescience.com). A Cultural Aspect Some people may believe that America values their culture more than Mexico. On the other hand, some might believe that Mexicans value their culture and beliefs more than Americans. There are many more celebrations in Mexico than in America.(biculturalblessings ). Evidentally, when Mexico celebrates we do it "loud and proud." People Celebrate the feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe, this day is celebrated on December 12. This day is very important to Mexico because they celebrate the appearance of the Virgin Mary. The Day of The Dead is celebrated to remember and honor the, peoples ancestors. This event is celebrated on two days: November 1st and 2nd. When Mexican people celebrate something, we hire Mariachis for music and our moms make something delicious to eat like tacos, tamales, enchiladas, tortillas and invite family and friends. One of our relatives may even buy a piñata (Mexico the Cultures). In fact, Mexico celebrates Cinco De Mayo - the day when the day that the Mexican Army defeated the French in Puebla (Eng). You may not know this but Mexico and America have some things in common. For example, in the U.S, people eat Mexican food. Hispanics go to church and so do Americans and their religion and our religion is mostly Christianity. In fact, Americans celebrate Christmas, Easter, Halloween, and Valentines Day and so do Mexican people. In addition, some Americans and Mexican people share the same language. For instance, American people may speak Spanish and some Mexican people speak English. Sports are another thing we have in common. Mexican people play soccer, football and boxing and so do Americans (librarythinkquest.org). Imagine yourself eating a delicious taco fresh out of the pan. The person who is making is inserting some pieces of fresh, out of the oven chicken. Then after that she inserts lettuce, cream and tomatoes. She left it on a clean plate and the taco is just taunting you. When you grab the taco you can feel the rough warm hot shell. You take a bite and felt like you are in heaven. This is a taste of culture! |
